My Space Wolf Imperial Knight with LED Eyes and Cannon.

I'd like to share my Freeblade Imperial Knight I have built, painted and added some 3mm LED lights to the eyes and Thermal cannon. 

The LED kit is an American kit from eBay. I'll have to find a good UK supplier for future use. 

I have hidden the battery pack inside the torso and just left the top unglued for access. I also have a Razorback with blue headlights. I feel they add a great little extra to my models as well as an interesting talking point.

Warpfire Dragon update

I have glued and pinned the Dragon together, and now I've used some liquid green stuff around every joint, neck, legs and tail.

Liquid green stuff is a new thing to me, but you just use it like paint in the cracks, and when it dries I will file it down with my hobby files.

I've applied it quite liberally in joints and where I have pinned the pieces together.

The road to Golden Demon 2015

For years I have been admiring the amazing annual event that is Games Wokshops 'Golden demon' modelling and painting contest.

Now the original reasoning to me starting my space wolf collection was that I love the conversion side to building my own army. I guess that's what drew me in to the wolves, the heroic nature, the stand alone characters and opportunity for one of a kind characters.

So after competing in Armies on parade in October I have new targets and ambitions.
Mainly, designing modelling and painting an entry for Golden Demon next year. 2015.

So let's start with ideas...Dragons!!!

The pose is great, sat atop a ruin ready to strike

So far this model is my largest forgeworld piece I have bought, and I know everybody can get nervous when the thought of resin strikes them. But you just have to be confident, double check you know what your plans are and then commence.

First things first, I get a fine sieve (like a flour sieve) and rinse all the resin bits in WARM water. Don't go too hot as it may warp and bend the bits without you realising. 

Then I fill a bowl with slightly warmer water and add fairy liquid, get a toothbrush and scrub each part. If doing this over a sink...put your plug in as you don't want to fish bits out of your U bend. 

Leave everything in the bowl of water for as long as you like, some suggest a day or two, I personally do around two hours just to remove the resins releasing agent. 

 I always pin my forgeworld models, first I glue using super glue, then once dried I drill the pieces with a 1mm drill bit then glue a length of 1mm brass rod inside the hole.

Games workshop Leeds, Armies on parade: Saturday 24th October 2014

Seeing as this is my first time blogging and posting about my time spent in the 41st millennium I think I will put up some pictures from another first for me.

Last Saturday I entered my first ever painting and modelling contest at the Games Workshop Leeds stores Armies on Parade.
I entered with a selection of my favourite models from my collection, including many conversions amid the occasional forge world piece thrown in.

On the day there were 8 entrants displaying their hard work. Ranging from space marines and orks, to chaos demons and fantasy dwarfs. Everybody who entered had put a great deal of effort.

And guess what, I came second! Scooping a shiny medal for my efforts I'm proud as punch. I will see which pictures I can find from Facebook and other blogs as I didn't get as many as I hoped.
